Jensen Camp Foundation received a grant from the Brown County Endowment Fund, held with the Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri, during an awards presentation at Jensen Woods Camp in Timewell on Friday. The grant marks the fifth annual competitive grant awards presented from the Brown County Endowment.
The grant from the Brown County Endowment Fund will support the installation of two bathrooms in the basement of Dixon Lodge, which will provide safety to campers during inclement weather. A separate grant funded by Jon’s Home Center Associated Fund and Unrestricted Grant Funds will help meet the operational challenges caused by COVID-19.
“The beauty of the Community Foundation is that it truly is about community -- ours,” said Brown County Endowment Chair Philip Krupps. “The Brown County Endowment Fund has been a tremendous opportunity for us to uniquely and directly support efforts to sustain and build Brown County for those opportunities today to make successes for tomorrow.”
As part of the Community Foundation’s competitive grant program, the Brown County Fund Council, made up of representatives of the county, reviewed applications from local, eligible organizations and made recommendations on grants to be awarded to best serve needs and opportunities in the county.
The fund serves as a permanent endowment benefiting Brown County residents for generations to come. Grants from the fund support charitable organizations, projects and programs in the county.
