Charlie and Jeanne Griffith could be described as a couple with big smiles, exuberant personalities, and generous hearts.
Charlie was born in Louisiana, Missouri and was a graduate of Louisiana High School. He was a WWII Navy Veteran and later went on to have a 45 year career in broadcasting, spending his time in Quincy at both WTAD and WGEM.
Jeanne grew up in Quincy, attended Quincy High School and Quincy College, and worked in customer service. Having grown up in the area, Jeanne became involved in various community organizations including the League of Women Voters, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and the Tri-State Civil War Roundtable.
Charlie and Jeanne were later blessed with two children, Mary Kathleen and Charles Dooley Griffith. Growing up, Mary and Charles watched their parents write checks to local charities, donate their time to charitable causes, and help out in the Quincy community wherever and whenever possible.
When Charlie and Jeanne Griffith passed away, their children wanted to keep their legacy alive. So, Mary and Charles established the Charlie and Jeanne Griffith Fund at the Community Foundation to support all the causes the Griffith family has always held dear. The fund will primarily support youth activities and mental health care initiatives in Quincy and Adams County.
