Community Foundation Welcomes Kent Embree as Program Officer

Embree to lead grantmaking and community leadership efforts

The Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri has welcomed Kent Embree to help fulfill its mission of connecting people who care with causes that matter. Quincy native Kent Embree will serve as Program Officer. 
 
As Program Officer, Embree will lead the Community Foundation’s grant programs, leadership initiatives, and nonprofit and community-based outreach. 

“Our Community Foundation does so much to help the people and missions of nonprofit organizations in our region,” said Embree. “As Program Officer, I am looking forward to making the connections between important causes and donors, who care about the progress of our communities and the people of both Illinois and Missouri.”

Embree comes to the Community Foundation with thirty years of diverse, professional experience including nonprofit fundraising and development, business ownership, and advertising strategies and planning. Most recently, Embree served as Executive Director of the Quincy Public Schools Foundation allowing the organization to implement strategic initiatives to improve fundraising and outreach in the community. 

“Kent’s experience with and passion for the nonprofit community will serve both our grantees and donors well,” said Catherine Bocke Meckes, Community Foundation CEO. “We look forward to leveraging Kent’s leadership skills to grow our nonprofits and help our donors create meaningful impact.” 

Embree is a proud alumnus of Quincy High School and received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Iowa. He volunteers extensively throughout the community and is passionate about helping local non-profits reach their full potential.

The Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri builds permanent charitable funds to assist area nonprofits and communities. 

Its mission, “connecting people who care with causes that matter,” is achieved by gathering funds, growing them through investments, then granting to nonprofit organizations, causes or communities that mean the most to its donors.   

Since 1997, the Community Foundation has made more than $12 million in grants. It serves 12-counties: Adams, Brown, Hancock and Pike in Illinois and Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Pike, Knox, Shelby and Monroe in Missouri.  

The Community Foundation has IRS 501(c)(3) status, and contributions made to the Community Foundation generally qualify for the maximum allowable deductions for income and estate tax purposes.
