Dorothy Swallow wanted to assist others.
“Mother believed in the Community Foundation’s concept to build permanent funds to serve broader community needs,” said Dorothy’s daughter Reaugh Broemmel. “She realized that unrestricted endowment funds would provide the greatest flexibility for the future because you cannot anticipate what future needs will be.”
Therefore, a portion of the earnings from the Dorothy L. Swallow Fund are used annually to support programs and projects including the Competitive Grant program for area nonprofit organizations. Remaining portions of the earnings return to the fund for growth—thus fulfilling Dorothy’s intent to leave a legacy supporting community needs for generations to come.
