Judy and Rick Haugh Endowment Fund

For life-long Quincy residents Judy and Rick Haugh, St. Francis Solanus Church holds many special memories. Judy was a student in the first kindergarten class at St. Francis Solanus School, Judy and Rick said their vows to one another at St. Francis Solanus Church on July 6, 1968, and all three of their children were later baptized at St. Francis. Currently, Judy and Rick serve as communion ministers at the church and Rick also volunteers as an usher and reader. As Rick puts it, St. Francis has been in their blood for a long time.

The Haugh’s relationship with St. Francis Solanus Church does not stop there. Judy and Rick have long supported the food pantry run by the Community Assistance Ministry within the church by contributing financially and by volunteering at the food pantry.

“It’s hard to believe here in Quincy, Illinois that we have people going hungry and that families rely on food from food pantries,” said Rick. “Judy and I have been in homes where the conditions were certainly not good and the people were just so grateful for receiving the food. It just warms your heart to know that you were helping people with such basic needs that a lot of us take for granted.”

Those experiences led the Haughs to establish the Judy and Rick Haugh Endowment Fund with the Community Foundation. This Fund will provide support to St. Francis Solanus Church for the benefit of the Community Assistance Ministry, by offering aid to parishioners and community members in need.

“We’ve been aware of the Community Foundation since the Foundation’s inception,” said Judy. “So, once we were in a position to carry out charitable giving in a more impactful way, the Foundation was one of the first places we looked at. To put it simply, the community has been good to us and now it’s our time to give back what we can, and what better way to do it than through the Community Foundation.”
