Quincy Humane Society was incorporated on July 20, 1880 and today is commended as one of the oldest continually operating humane organizations in the United States. Its programs include adoptions, humane education, humane investigation and low-cost spay/neuter, and vaccination programs.
Quincy Humane Society began an endowment fund with the Community Foundation in 2000 to assist in educating the community about the organization and the programs it provides. Even though its focus is primarily on animal welfare, its programs also assist pet owners in need. By providing affordable spay/neuter and vaccination services, it is helping to make our community safer and reducing tax dollar expenses for animal control services.
Earnings from the Quincy Humane Society Fund provide an additional source of annual income for the nonprofit organization. Each year, a portion of the organization's fund growth is distributed through a grant for either operating support or for a specific purpose and a portion is retained in the organization’s fund for continued growth.
Through this endowment, contributions serve as an investment in the Quincy Humane Society's mission and good work for years to come.
