Mrs. Amelia Bauner was passionate about education, having served in the Quincy Public Schools for 44 years. Although she passed in May 2008 at the age of 99, she continues giving to her community through two endowments with the Community Foundation.
According to her attorney, “Mrs. Bauner had very little family, but many friends. Mrs. Bauner was well aware of her financial situation and knew there would be substantial assets remaining at the time of her death after the gifts to her friends. She wanted to do something for the community and to honor her brother and sister.”
Mrs. Bauner did just that by setting up two endowments named for her brother and sister.
Through the Amelia E. Bauner, Frances A. Hall, and Walter J. Hall Scholarship Fund, aid is awarded to students living in Adams County, Illinois who are enrolled at Quincy University and are pursuing a degree in education.
In addition, the Amelia E. Bauner, Frances A. Hall, and Walter J. Hall Charitable Fund provides the Quincy Service League with funds to be distributed for its charitable purposes.
Mrs. Bauner’s thoughtful generosity will forever touch her community.
