Mrs. Amelia Bauner was passionate about education. She served in the Quincy Public Schools for 44 years. Although she died at the age of 99 in May 2008, she continues giving to her community through two endowments with the Community Foundation.
“Mrs. Bauner had very little family, but many friends,” said her attorney. “She was well aware of her financial situation and knew there would be substantial assets remaining at the time of her death after the gifts to her friends. She wanted to do something for the community and to honor her brother and sister.”
Mrs. Bauner did just that by setting up two endowments named for her brother and sister.
The Amelia E. Bauner, Frances A. Hall, and Walter J. Hall Charitable Fund provides the Quincy Service League with support for its charitable purposes.
In addition, through the Amelia E. Bauner, Frances A. Hall, and Walter J. Hall Scholarship Fund, aid is awarded to students living in Adams County, Illinois who are enrolled at Quincy University and are pursuing a degree in education.
Mrs. Bauner’s thoughtful generosity will forever touch her community.
