Community Foundation Elects New Board Member, Officers

The Community Foundation Serving West Central Illinois & Northeast Missouri recently elected officers and four new members to its Board of Directors at its annual meeting.

Philip Krupps, of Mt. Sterling, was elected board chair. He is president & CEO at Brown County State Bank in Mt. Sterling, IL. Krupps previously served as a board member from 2005-2011 and as board chair in 2010 and 2011. “It is a humbling pleasure to have the opportunity to serve not only the Community Foundation, but our community. The Community Foundation has become a pure reflection of the ideals and commitment of community to positively impact our neighbors well beyond our own individual efforts,” said Krupps.

Lydia Ahrens, of Hannibal, was elected vice chair. Ahrens is a community volunteer and previously served as secretary. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2013. Laura McReynolds, of Quincy, was elected secretary. McReynolds is a partner at Adams & McReynolds, LLC and has served on the Board of Directors since 2015. Erin Wharton, of Quincy, was re-elected treasurer. Erin has served on the Board of Directors since 2015. She is a partner at Gray Hunter Stenn LLP.

Mandar Dighe, of Quincy, James Hansen, of Quincy, Lynn House, of Payson, and Debbie Niederhauser, of Quincy, join the Community Foundation as board members.

Dighe is vice president of marketing at Knapheide Manufacturing Company. “I’m excited to join the board to gain a better understanding of how the Community Foundation helps all the worthy organizations and groups across the area. I’m looking forward to helping expand the reach of the Community Foundation,” said Dighe.

Hansen is partner at Schmiedeskamp Robertson Neu & Mitchell LLP. “I am serving on the board to continue the work done by those before me that had the vision to create ways for people to give back to the community in which they live. I feel it is important for people to make sure they think about leaving behind something greater than when they were here,” said Hansen.

House is a community volunteer and brings experience in child care and health care. “I have spent many years serving on Boards of various local organizations who depend on funding from outside sources to continue to provide their much-needed services to our community. It is my hope, that by serving on the Community Foundation Board, I can in some way aid the growth and continued availability of funding for these local organizations,” said House.

Niederhauser is a retired educator, previously serving as regional superintendent in Adams and Pike counties. “The Community Foundation works tirelessly to better the lives of the people in West Central Illinois and Northeast Missouri time and time again. When asked to join the Community Foundation’s board, I was humbled and so thrilled to be a part of this team. Their focus is to enrich the lives of our citizens and they do this in profound ways. I look forward to this opportunity to share in this work. Our area is better because of its efforts. It is a real asset to our area,” said Niederhauser.

The Board of Directors also includes:

  • Lance Grady of Mt. Sterling, owner of L. Grady Realty
  • Byron Webb of Palmyra, with The Webb Company
  • David Fox of Carthage, senior vice president at Marine Bank & Trust
  • Gordon Ipson of Hannibal, retired economic development director at Northeast Missouri Electric Power Coop
  • Bill Keller of Quincy, retired attorney at Schmiedeskamp, Robertson, Neu & Mitchell
  • Brian Nation of Barry, vice president at Central State Bank in Kinderhook
  • Sharon Tenhouse of Liberty, retired educator with Liberty School District

The Board of Directors also recognized and thanked two retiring board members for their service. William McCleery, Jr. of Quincy, IL retires after serving since 2008, including two years as board chair in 2016 and 2017. McCleery is a partner with Schmiedeskamp, Robertson, Neu & Mitchell. Julie Bowen of Quincy, IL retires after serving on the board since 2013. Bowen is senior vice president & director of marketing at Mercantile Bank.
