Family and community meant everything to Earl and Irene Oliver. Both were born and raised in Quincy, they were married in St. Mary’s Church in 1946, raised four children together, and built a life in the Gem City.
“My parents had modest beginnings. They were hard working people who invested any extra income they may have had into me and my siblings,” said Dan Oliver, son of Earl and Irene.
When Earl and Irene passed, Dan wanted to do something to honor his parents and honor the community where they planted their roots. Therefore, he turned to the Community Foundation to start the Earl & Irene Oliver Family Fund – an unrestricted endowment fund that will go towards supporting a wide variety of needs and opportunities as they emerge.
“My parents didn’t necessarily have one particular cause they were passionate about. However, I know they were passionate about this community,” said Dan. “My hope is that this endowment fund will go towards maintaining and improving this area for generations of families to come. And, in my opinion, there’s no better way to honor and memorialize my parents than that.”
