The Mary Weems Barton/Quincy Public Library Foundation was established in 1997 with the sole purpose of supporting and enhancing the Library by supplying funds for materials, equipment, and capital improvements. Since its inception in 1997, the Mary Weems Barton/Quincy Public Library Foundation has contributed over $500,000 to the library for the purchase of adult fiction and non-fiction materials, which include materials for the Audio/Visual collection, Reference Department, and Outreach Department.
The Mary Weems Barton/Quincy Public Library Foundation is critical in providing support to ensure the growth and preservation of the Quincy Public Library. The Quincy Public Library provides materials, programs, and services to meet the lifelong recreational, cultural, and educational needs of our community.
The Mary Weems Barton/Quincy Public Library Foundation decided to establish a fund with the Community Foundation in 2002 to raise awareness for the foundation and to raise funds to benefit Quincy Public Library and the patrons they serve.
“The Mary Weems Barton/Quincy Public Library Foundation has served a vital role in the growth and sustenance of the Quincy Public Library. We appreciate the dedication of our donors and Board members to the future of the library, and to the patrons of the Quincy Area,” stated then Quincy Public Library Executive Director, Nancy Dolan.
