Will and Kristin (Kanoy) Spear have always felt blessed to come from loving and supportive families who encouraged education and promoted a spirit of learning and discovery.
The Spear and Kanoy families’ history of giving and supporting youth goes back generations in both Adams and Hancock Counties. In fact, Will’s grandpa, George, used to raise money for several Quincy youth programs and if a prospective donor hesitated, Grandpa George would jokingly ask if they hated kids as a light-hearted way of motivating generosity. Now, the phrase, “We don’t hate kids!” has become something of a catchphrase for Will when he discusses his philanthropic endeavors.
“Our goal is to give kids opportunities to grow and experience new things,” said Will.
Today, Will and Kristin are following in their families’ footsteps to help kids find what they’re passionate about. Whether children are interested in art, music, sports or other activities, they believe kids should have the chance to explore and expand their horizons, no matter their economic background.
“We recognize that by planting the seed in 2018 and nurturing our endowment during our lifetimes, it will continue to bear fruit far into the future,” said Kristin.
